Betty Louise Morgan, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:45 A.M. April 18, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born May 7, 1937 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Charles Cecil Brown and Erma (Masters) Brown. She married Jim Morgan on June 15, 1957 in Elk Prairie Township. They were blessed with nearly 62 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, Jim Morgan, Betty is survived by her son, Kenny Morgan and wife, Susan of Opdyke, Illinois; grandsons, Bryan Morgan of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Brad Morgan and wife, Erin of Alma, Illinois; granddaughter, Shelby Morgan of Opdyke, Illinois; great-granddaughters, Danielle Morgan and Brianna Morgan, both of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Ronald Brown of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sister, Doris Isaac of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Rob Morgan and wife, Patsy; Charlie Morgan and wife, Debbie; and Terry Morgan, all of Jefferson County, Illinois; and sisters-in-law, Linda Smith and husband Kenny of Jefferson County, Illinois and Pat Chelf and significant other, Bob of Hamilton County, Illinois;

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Brown; one nephew; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Betty helped her husband, Jim operate the Morgan Tree Nursery in Jefferson County. She was a member of Bakerville Freewill Baptist Church in Bonnie, IL and South Hickory Hill Chrisitan Church. Betty spent many years square dancing with Jim. She also enjoyed bowling, watching birds, and gardening flowers. Betty had many beautiful flowers in her home garden. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend David Misher officiating.  Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemtery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
