Eddie Q Lacey

November 14, 1934 ~ September 13, 2018 (age 83)

Eddie Q. Lacey, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:51 A.M. September 13, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born November 14, 1934 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Quentin McCullough and Maxine (Fox) Lacey. Eddie married Dorothy M. (Martin) Lacey on October 21, 1956 in Sesser, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 62 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Eddie is survived by his children, Rick Lacey and wife, Marla of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Jennifer Morris of DuBois, Illinois; grandchildren, Miranda Lee Tucker and husband, Justin of Nardin, Oklahoma, Kelly Jean Kelley and husband, Luke of Macedonia, Illinois, and Jace Quentin Morris and fiance, Megan Isaac of Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Karlie Tucker, Talon Tucker, Laine Tucker, Rickey Tucker, Quincy Tucker, Kenna Belle Kelley and Kolt Kelley; and niece, LaDonna Drowney of California.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Tate.

Eddie was a farmer at the family farm, Green Hills Farm, where he was a second generation showman of Ayrshire cattle. He also worked as a jailer for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. Eddie was a member of Central Christian Church. He enjoyed racing Thoroughbred and Harness horses. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Eddie was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home 601 South 42nd Street Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Interment will follow at Horse Prairie Cemetery in Sesser, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Eddie’s honor to Central Christian Church or Horse Prairie Cemetery.
