Helena Margaret Campbell was born July 16, 1926 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Archie and Catherine Campbell.
Helena Margaret Campbell became Helena Mowrer when she married David C. Mowrer on May 5, 1945. David passed away January 14, 1995, just weeks before their 50th wedding anniversary.
The Mowrer family opened BoBo’s Pizza in October 1970 on South 10th Street in Mount Vernon. Helena, known as “Maudie” to her many friends at BoBo’s from 1971 until her retirement enjoyed the camaraderie she built with her customers. She was the glue that held it all together.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Frank) McKeever of Scottsdale, Arizona and Deborah (Jack) Hatton of Portland, Tennessee; sons, Paul (Barbara) Mowrer of Energy, Illinois and Curt (Sharon) Mowrer of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Deanne (David R) Mowrer of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sisters, Betty Smalley of Potterville, Michigan; brother, David Campbell of Sunfield, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Frances Mowrer of Parma, Michigan.
Helena Mowrer is also survived by her twelve grandchildren Michele (George) Goodall, Megan (Jamie) Pratt, Erika (Daniel) Knox, Kristopher (Amy) Mowrer, Andrea (Mike) Kosydor, Jenni (Joe) Fisher, J.P. (Misty) Mowrer, Emily (Mark) Peterson, Ben (Kelli) Mowrer, Kelly (Marty) Mills, Dawn (Randy) Brooks, and Jesse F. James; twenty great-grandchildren, Josh, Paicience, Joplin, Celeste, Haley, Eliana, Teya, Asher, Gavin, Reed, Ella, Amelia, Alex, Andy, Owen, Lilah, Nola, Willow, Aden, and Alexa; three great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Justus, and Phoenyx; and many, many nieces and nephews across the entire country.
She was preceded in death by her sons, David R. Mowrer and Craig R. Mowrer; grandson, Jason C. Mowrer; son-in-law, Jack Hatton; brothers, Charles Campbell and Donald Campbell; sisters, Hilda Parkhurst and Shirley Hinckley; brother-in-law, Paul Mowrer; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Throop, Helen Prince, and Peggy Doyle.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 P.M. with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
