Charles A. "Chuck" Hicks, 60, of Texico, Illinois passed away at 10:33 A.M. June 24, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born November 7, 1958 in Mount Vernon to the late Clyde and Laura (Lutes) Hicks. He married Dee Connaway on March 24, 1978 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she survives in Texico.
In addition to his beloved wife of forty-one years, Chuck is survived by his son, Michael Hicks; brother, Bob Hicks of Mount Vernon; sister, Peggy O’Daniel and husband, Ron of St. Charles, Missouri; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Barbara Connaway of Texico; two sisters-in-law, Shelly McFarlin and Dave Dubay of Texico and Beth Anne Hardig and Darrell Jones of Summersville; and several nieces, nephews, and loving cousins.
Chuck worked for Rockwell International as a Tool and Die Maker, then later for National Railway, and also owned an outdoor advertising business, Scenic Outdoor for thirty-five years. Music was an important part of his life and he enjoyed tinkering with computers as a hobby. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the United Auto Workers union. Chuck will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband and father. He is dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will then begin at 3:00 P.M. with Mr. Johnathan Schnautz officiating.
