Don Steven “Steve” Richardson passed away at 1:45 A.M. on November 5, 2019 in Nashville, Illinois. He was born in McLeansboro, Illinois on July 19, 1938.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Richardson; four sisters, Xenia (Raymond) Restoff, Judy (Charles) Spotanski, Rita (George) Wyciskalla, and Donna (Roger) Lamke; four nephews, Tom (Kathryn) Restoff, Terry (Renee) Wyciskalla, Mark (Amy) Spotanski, and Kevin (Samantha) Restoff; four nieces, Suzanne Spotanski, Kathy (Michael) Krisfaluzy, Diane (Randy) Buza, and Samantha Mason (Micah Harms); and one uncle, Rev. Marvin (Eula) Richardson; along with cousins and many very special friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Lois (Ponder) Richardson and his in-laws, Dominic and Frances (Kerry) Betlejewski.
Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Columbia University Graduate. He retired from the Department of the Air Force as a Budget Officer with 30 years of service.
Steve was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. He was an AMVETS Post No. 148 charter member and an Ashley Sportsmen Club member.
He was an authority on Studebakers. His passion was restoring Studebaker cars and John Deere tractors (and a few others). He had a special talent for painting vehicles.
To have known Steve was an honor. It was well known that he loved the Lord, loved to sing and was a gentle man with a colorful sense of humor. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be at the Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 with Pastor Mitchell Flesch officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Hill Cemetery, Scheller, Illinois.
