Dorine Louise Brantley, 82, of Opdyke, Illinois passed away at 6:30 A.M. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at her residence in Opdyke, Illinois. On December 25, 1936 an angel was born to the union of Mattie Lee Smith and John Smith. She was born in Fayette, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lee Rumble, George Smith, and Willie Smith; and one sister, Maxine Knight. Dorine left Fayette at an early age. She made her home in Chicago, Illinois where she met the love of her life, Claude Brantley, Jr. They were married fifty five years ago on July 3rd, 1964.
To this union, two children were born. Dorine worked at the Unites States Postal Service for over thirty years. This love grew so strong no man could break apart. She accepted Christ at an early age. God used her in a mighty way. Dorine was used in her church, President of the Missionary Society at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Cicago, a foster parent, and One Church One Child. She was one remarkable woman.
Dorine leaves to cherish her loving husband, Claude Brantley, four daughters, Rene (Tim) McElrath of Marion, Illinois, Serena (Derek) Dixon of Chicago, Illinois, Cleshae Brantley of Marion, Illinois, and Angela Carver of Saint Louis, Missouri; three sons, Claude F. Brantley of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Craig Brantley of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and JaRyan D. Brock-Brantley of Marion, Illinois; four sisters, Mearl Williams of Jackson, Mississippi, Pearl Allen of Jackson, Mississippi, Louise (Ray) Coleman of Fayette, Mississippi, and Ms. Wanzie Cadney of Mesquite, Texas; two brothers, Clyde Cadney of Fayette, Mississippi, Rudolph Cadney of Atlanta, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a multitude of friends.
A Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will follow with Reverend Tim Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to One Church One Child through the Children and Family Services Department.
