George Allen Smith, 44, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away on September 24, 2019 at Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 25, 1975 in Orange County, California to the late Joyce Marie (Smith) Garcia.
George is survived by his sisters, Ana Berry; Lora Ramirez and husband, Juan; brothers, Colton Berry and wife, Cristina, and Jorge Garcia; aunt, Eva Marie Fogarty and husband, Mike; uncle, Leon Smith and wife, Christina; aunt, Belinda Priddy and husband, Andy; uncles, Leonard Smith, and Christopher Smith and wife, Robin; numerous cousins including, Tanja Wilborn and husband, Shawn, Brian Reynolds and wife, April; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, George was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leland Smith, Sr. and Herlinda (Martinez) Smith; uncle, Leland Smith, Jr.; and aunt, Linda Sue Smith.
Mr. Smith worked as a fork truck driver at Continental Tire. He read fantasy books and enjoyed the New Orleans Saints. George loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for always having a smile on his face, telling jokes, and enjoying life.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. In honor of George’s love for the New Orlean Saints the family has requested that everyone dress in gold and black.
